BCTHubs Conference: a success for our serious game!

From 4 to 6 December, the CREAMARE project was showcased by 3D Research at the international conference of the BCTHubs project, titled ‘Widening the Big Blue Horizon’. The event, at its first edition, took place in Volos, Greece, under the patronage of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

The conference welcomed over 430 participants, both in person and online, from 39 countries, with 360 registered attendees. Among the diverse audience were academics, maritime innovation experts, and public sector stakeholders, all actively engaged in discussions on advancing research, conservation, accessibility, and management of Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH).

The conference served as a dynamic platform to exchange knowledge, share achievements, and reflect on lessons learned across various research projects. The overarching goal was clear: to foster the development of cutting-edge skills and collaborative strategies for the sustainable protection and enhancement of UCH. By integrating advanced technological solutions with creative approaches, participants explored new pathways to valorise and safeguard underwater heritage while making it more accessible to the public.

Our project was showcased with a presentation titled “CREAMARE: A Serious Game for Raising Awareness About Underwater Cultural Heritage and Environmental Threats.” This display highlighted the innovative efforts of the CREAMARE project to address pressing challenges in heritage conservation and environmental sustainability.

In addition, 3D Research unveiled the demo of CREAMARE: The Game, the serious game developed as part of the project. The interactive demo captivated participants, demonstrating how technology, culture and creativity can come together to make underwater heritage more accessible to a wider audience.
