CREAMARE featured at SuperScienceMe 2025, University of Calabria

On September 26th,  SuperScienceMe – European Researchers’ Night took place at the University of Calabria, transforming once again the campus into a vibrant stage for science, technology, and public engagement. The event brought together researchers, students, and curious minds of all ages to explore how innovation and creativity are shaping the future.

Now in its twelfth edition, the event dedicated the morning to scientific experiments, demonstrations, games, educational activities, and guided tours of laboratories, museums, libraries, and cultural landmarks — as well as to the various departmental areas and thematic zones (EU Space, Innovation Space, Gender Space).

Among the many projects that captured the public’s attention, CREAMARE project attracted students, future students, gamers and curious minds at the Innovation Space booth, where participants had the opportunity to try the latest release of CREAMARE: The Game thanks to a dedicated gaming station.

CREAMARE – The Game, officially endorsed as part of the UN Ocean Decade’s Cultural Heritage Framework Programme, is a first-person serious game developed under the Creative Europe programme to raise awareness about Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH) and the impacts of environmental threats.

The videogame invite players to dive into realistic 3D environments, explore submerged sites, and engage with pressing ocean issues through immersive storytelling and gameplay.

The response? A wave of excitement — especially from high schoolers and university students — who not only enjoyed the game mechanics but also left with a stronger understanding of marine ecosystems and the importance of their protection.

More than just a game, CREAMARE is part of a wider mission to connect culture and sustainability through digital co-creation. Through interactive storytelling, puzzles, and missions, the game delivers a unique blend of education, archaeology, and environmental awareness.

Moreover, CREAMARE: The Game proves how serious games can be a powerful tool for awareness, participation and change — starting with the younger generations.

Events like the European Researchers’ Night offer a powerful opportunity to share that mission with the public, turning learning into an interactive, emotional and engaging journey.
