The Montenegro’s cultural institution is Laboratory of Maritime Archaeology, Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor – University of Montenegro.

Its mission is to make Montenegro’s underwater cultural heritage accessible to the public through advanced methods, innovative technologies, and the highest scientific standards for its documentation, preservation, and promotion. It provides digital documentation of maritime and underwater cultural heritage, promoting it nationally and internationally.

Steamship Tihany, Mamula Island (Municipality of Herceg Novi, Montenegro)

This Austro-Hungarian passenger and cargo steamship, built in Trieste in 1908, sank in 1917 and now rests at a depth of 37-40 meters.

The wreck is well-preserved, with the hull, superstructure, anchors, winches, telegraph, bridge, and rudder still perfectly visible.
