The Department has a wide range of scientifically advanced research laboratories specialising in classical archaeology, experimental archaeology, topography and photogrammetry, restoration and image production and processing. It also offers expertise in chemistry and physics for cultural and environmental heritage.
The Torre Santa Sabina shipwreck, Carovigno, Brindisi.
Type of UCH site: ancient shipwreck of the late Roman Imperial period, late 3rd – early 4th century AD, abandoned on the coast after its active use and now submerged due to sea level rise.
Depth: 2 metres below sea level.
Condition: Exceptionally well preserved, with a few stanchions, deck beams and presumed remains of the hatch.
